Zion’s Yeoman
The Ship of Zion charts her course
By the Master of the sea.
And when the sailors do the work
Her sails fly full and free.
But if the mighty Ship could speak
You'd be sure to hear a tale
Of the mighty yeoman, strong and true
And of the ones who fail.
Many a man has come aboard
To sail this grand ol’ Ship.
And while a few have stayed the course,
Scores of scores have quit.
Some say the crashing of the waves
Causes much distress!
While others claim when waves swelled high
They've even seen Loch Ness!
Some complain of the winds icy blow
And the sting of the salty spray.
They say that all there is – is pain
At the end of every day.
But every other blue moon or so
A special yeoman bounds aboard.
His goal is not treasure or fame
But to serve his Risen Lord.
He says “The swelling waves consume the ship!”
But they don't frighten me!
‘Cause I know that they obey
The Master of the sea.
“The salt, it stings on icy wings
And then its pain I feel.
But I know it’s what the Master sends
To cause my wounds to heal.
Those special yeoman, the Master says
Will one day get a crown
For being faithful to the end
And not letting Him down.
So please, dear sailor, stay the course
And get your bearings from above.
Then one day you'll see the prize
Of His unfailing love.
