3 SECRETS TO SUPPLICATION!
Psalm 142:1
I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.
In the book of Psalms chapter 142 we find David's communion in a cave.
This chapter could effortlessly be outlined like this:
I. David's Desperation. (verses 1-4)
II. David's Realization. (verses 5-7)
It is while the psalmist David is dealing (under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit) with "David's Desperation" that a person learns some not so obvious truths about prayer. (verse 1)
The word "supplication" means: An expressions of deep need.
One well-known Bible student once penned about our text, "There are times when prayer is worship (Psalm 141:1) and then there are times when prayer is warfare." (Psalm 142:1)
Friend, you and I (those of us that are saved) can find in the Scriptures those successful secrets to supplication!
There are classified truths about prayer from between the covers of the Word of God.
I. HAVE A PLACE.
An almost under wraps truth about prayer is, you need to have a spot. (Mark 1:35) There should be somewhere on this blue marble a location where the Christian meets with God and God meets with the Christian on a regular basis. It's the child of God that has a 'closet' that can get things from Heaven. (Matthew 6:6) Have a place!
II. HAVE A PROMISE.
An almost under wraps truth about prayer is, you need to have a vow. (II Corinthians 1:20) There is no greater way to see God move in your life than to stand on one of His divine contracts from your knees. Newsflash: The checks are all signed and the account is full! ( II Peter 1:4) Have a promise!
III. HAVE A PURPOSE.
An almost under wraps truth about prayer is, you need to have an aim. (Matthew 7:7 & 8) Supplication without some kind of a target is like shooting a gun without using the sights. Aimless prayer never attains anything from God. (James 4:2) Have a purpose!
