WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET YOU TO GOD?
Acts 3:2
And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
In the book of Acts chapter 3 we find the Apostle Peter (by way of the power of God) heals the crippled man.
This chapter could be effortlessly outlined like this:
I. Peter's Exploit Outside The Temple. (verses 1-10)
II. Peter's Explanation Within The Temple. (verses 11-26)
It is while the physician Luke is dealing (under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit) with 'Peter's Exploit Outside The Temple' that a person learns a paramount truth. (verse 2)
Never forget: It was his handicap that Heaven used to bring him to his hour of help.
Friend, you and I need to learn the serious phenomenon's God will use to lead people to Himself!
There are three severe episodes (in the written voice of God) God used to get people to think about eternity:
I. A BREAK DOWN
A severe episode God used to get a person to think about forever is a break down. (Daniel 4:33) It does not matter if it is a peasant in a hovel or a king in a palace. If God has to, He will put His finger in their brain and stir it like chocolate milk. God will use a mental hospital to show an individual they are not in control of their lives. (Daniel 4:17) A break down!
II. A BANKRUPTCY
A severe episode God used to get a person to think about forever is a bankruptcy. (Luke 15:14) There always has been and always will be 'a mighty famine' where the backslider decides to live. When you plan to run from the 'Father's house' I can promise you your money will grow wings and soar through the stratosphere! (Proverbs 23:5) A bankruptcy!
III. A BURIAL
A severe episode God used to get a person to think about forever is a burial. (Isaiah 6:1) Sometimes the Christian doesn't see the ETERNAL THRONE until the earthly throne is EMPTY! It is sad to say but caskets, hearses, graveyards and headstones make excellent old-fashioned altars. (Acts 5:11) A burial!
