VERSES FOR THE VALLEY!
Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
In the book of Psalms chapter 23 we find Christ as the great Shepherd. (The book of Psalms is the Hymn book of the Bible)
This chapter could easily be outlined like this:
I. Revelation Of The Sanctuary Of The Shepherd's Soul. (verses 1-2)
II. Record Of The Thoughts Of The Shepherd's Mind. (verses 3-4)
III. Reflection Of The Happiness And Hope Of The Shepherd's Heart. (verses 5-6)
It is while the psalmist David is dealing (under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit) with "Record Of The Thoughts Of The Shepherd's Mind" that a person reads a verse that is the "Mount Everest" of encouragement. (verse 4)
Friend, you and I (those of us that are saved) can get a truth for the trench!
There are at least three Scriptures for the Christian that finds themselves in the canyons that this life contains:
I. WHEN YOUR FUTURE IS UNDETERMINED.
There is a Scripture for the Christian that finds their future undetermined. (Genesis 18:25) Every believer will find themselves at the place where they have no idea or insight what the next 24 hours holds for them. I'm glad that when I don't know what is going on in my life, God is doing something for my "good!" (Romans 8:28) A verse for your future undetermined!
II. WHEN YOUR FINANCES ARE UNCERTAIN.
There is a Scripture for the Christian that finds their finances uncertain. (Philippians 4:19) Low Funds + The Lord's Faithfulness = Large Faith! You won't find the God of Glory in the unemployment line, looking at the "want ad" section of the universe's newspaper. (Ephesians 3:16) A verse for your finances as they are uncertain!
III. WHEN YOUR FRAME IS UNTESTED.
There is a Scripture for the Christian that finds their frame untested. (I Thessalonians 5:24) Never forget: Heaven is waiting for believers just to say, "I can't, but He can, so I will count on Him!" When selected for a task you can't do, remember Who picked you and how He will still provide the strength! (Exodus 4:12) A verse for your frame untested!
