3 IMPORTANT "WALLS" THE SERVANT OF GOD MUST BUILD IN THEIR LIFE!
Nehemiah 2:17
Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof
are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
In the book of Nehemiah chapter 2 we find King Artaxerxes approves Nehemiah's plan to build the city of
Jerusalem's walls.
This chapter could be effortlessly outlined like this:
I. The Request. (verses 1-10)
II. The Review. (verses 11-20)
It is while the general contractor Nehemiah is dealing (under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit) with
"The Review" that a person sees that not only the "gates" but also the "walls" were in desperate need of
reconstruction and reconditioning around Jerusalem. (verse 17)
A "wall" is a barricade, obstruction or a barrier. Basically, it is something that keeps that which is harmful
OUT and that which is helpful IN.
Friend, you and I (those that desire to do something great for God) need to have some indispensable
bulwarks in our lives!
There are three needful "walls" the servant of God must have in their life. (All from the book of Nehemiah)
I. THE "WALL" OF DEPENDENCE.
A bulwark a servant of God must have in their life is the "wall" of dependence. (Nehemiah 2:20) Before
Brother Nehemiah ever picked up a tool, he told the people, "The God of Heaven will prosper us!" If the
believer's work is not a faith work, sooner or later it will be...a FAILED WORK! (Hebrews 11:6) The "wall"
of dependence!
II. THE "WALL" OF DISREGARD.
A bulwark a servant of God must have in their life is the "wall" of disregard. (Nehemiah 4:6) It is
noteworthy, that Nehemiah's answer to his critics was, "SO BUILT WE THE WALL". Let your life and
labour be the only "billboard" for your detractors. (II Corinthians 3:2) The "wall" of disregard!
III. THE "WALL" OF DETERMINATION.
A bulwark a servant of God must have in their life is the "wall" of determination. (Nehemiah 6:15) If
Nehemiah hadn't a bucket full of predetermination on the wagon seat of his soul, the "wall" would have
never been finished. There is always a harvest of blessing, when one doesn't quit before the crops come
in! (Galatians 6:9b) The "wall" of determination!
