WHAT I KNOW WILL STILL BRING A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING!
Jonah 3:10
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
In the book of Jonah chapter 3 we find the prophet Jonah called again, he preaches, and Nineveh gets right with God.
This chapter could be effortlessly outlined like this:
I. Jonah's Commission. (verses 1-4)
II. Nineveh's Confession. (verses 5-9)
III. God's Compassion. (verse 10)
It is while the prophet Jonah is dealing (under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit) with "God's Compassion" that a person reads about a revival meeting that made the headlines and history books of Heaven. (verse 10)
Friend, you and I (those of us that are saved) can know from the Word of God, what will bring to our hearts and houses of God a great spiritual awakening!
There are three truths that will always cause a revival. (All found in Jonah chapter 3)
I. IT TAKES RIPPING.
A fact that will always birth a revival is there must be pointed preaching. (verse 4) It is not until "Sponge Bob Square Pants" gets OUT of the pulpit and John the Baptist gets IN the pulpit will we feel the rain of revival. Preaching on the pages of the Bible has always been LOUD and LONG! (Please read Acts 2:14 and Acts 20:9) It takes ripping!
II. II TAKES REPENTING.
A fact that will always birth a revival is there must be personal penitence. (verse 5) What the modern church needs is to trade wool, polyester and silk garments for some that are 100% "SACKCLOTH"! (II Chronicles 7:14) It takes repenting!
III. IT TAKES REQUESTING.
A fact that will always birth a revival is there must be prevailing prayer. (verse 8) Derelict prayer closets, vacant altars and abandoned mid-week prayer meetings have never been the catalyst for a considerable move of God. Christian, why not start your own revival by simply returning to your own "prayer closet"? (Matthew 6:6) It takes requesting!
